How romantic are these engagement photos? Everything from that real fiery way they look at each other, her beautiful hair and makeup, and the perfect lighting and scenery. Cat Pennenga Photography captures all those aspects through her signature artwork. I was so excited to work with her and such a beautiful, sweet woman like Jillian. I wish it was always like this! Yes!

I asked Jillian to tell me a little bit about how they met. This kind of romance doesn’t happen like ever. So don’t get jealous! It’s best that I let her tell you a brief story!.

“Nathan moved to Raleigh, NC to play soccer, and we met at a bar 6 years ago. Unfortunately after I met him, I had already made plans to move to New Orleans. Two years passed and we hadn’t seen one another until we reconnected at a coffee shop over Christmas. About a month later, he flew me up to Raleigh to spend a week with him and I never caught my return flight back! Soon after, I helped him move back to Florida and that’s when we began our lives together with our two little fur babies, Obi and Chewy. We flew out to California and spent 6 weeks out there traveling up and down the coast, and on the last day he proposed in Carlsbad.”

The Look For Jillian’s Engagement Photos

When I first starting exchanging emails with Jillian, she had told me she was inspired by another bride I had done’s eye makeup. I was excited to hear that because I live for doing a little extra drama! The look that I had done was a deep smokey eye with a champagne pop, winged liner, and sexy lashes! We amped up the highlight and went for neutral colored lips. I used all MAC products on her eyes and for contour colors, Jennifer Bradley Foundation, and Lime Crime Velvetine gloss with a little shine on top.

For her hair, she wanted soft curls but lots of body at the top of her hair to complete the drama. I took my time with small sections and curled her hair with a marcel iron. I teased the top and put a flexible working spray in since I knew she would be wanting her hair to move. As I’ve said in other blog posts, my absolute favorite is Bumble and Bumble Does It All Hairspray. IT.LITERALLY.DOES.EVERYTHING.

There were a lot of gorgeous outside engagement photos. Her hair stayed beautifully! We were all very pleased with how everything turned out in the photos!

I can’t wait to see Jillian again on her wedding day on April 20th, 2019 at The Powel Crosley Estate! The venues that Jillian has chosen are some of my absolute favorite!
