Do what you LOVE and I LOVE a Pinup Photoshoot

This pinup photoshoot reminded me how much I love doing what I do. I was able to take a step back and be extremely grateful for being able to practice what I love and what I am good at! HAIR AND MAKEUP! I worked with Little Skull Photography on the pinup photoshoot. When I get to work with Michael and Joslyn, the laughter and the creative magic doesn’t stop. When you walk into their studio, you know you are about to get some amazing photos for your pleasure!

I did the hair and makeup for Megan. She’s 25, born and raised in Decatur, IL. She will be getting married soon and wanted to give a special gift on pinup to her fiance! How cool is that?! She and her fiance are very passionate about vintage items and the era that was pinup! It doesn’t hurt that Megan is gorgeous and her smile is contagious! Lucky guy, Dillon!

I got to chat with Megan for quite some time while getting her ready for the shoot. When doing the hair for pinup, it always requires a proper hair set, which takes time. Planning out every direction of every curl can be a meticulous task! In the meantime, Megan told me some more interesting facts about herself. As you can see in the photographs, she loves vegetable gardening! I mean how cute! She also has a boxer named Thor and an ancient cat named Mufasa. Great names!

I also learned that she is an x-ray tech at a large level 1 trauma center in Springfield, IL called Memorial Medical Center. I could’ve sworn she was a model professionally because she was a natural in front of the camera.

How we achieved the pinup look

For the first look of the pinup photoshoot, I did victory rolls at the front of her hair and the back tied up with a classic scarf! The makeup was matte with double lashes, long winged eyeliner, and a bright pink matte lip! It was perfect for the gardening shoot.

Next, she changed into the navy polka dotted dress which called for a bold red lip, and the hair that was up in the scarf came down and was incorporated in with the victory rolls. Classic!

For the third and final look, I took down one of the victory rolls and swept that hair back and to the side, and switched the direction of the curls at the bottom to go with the boudoir look. Perfection! You could’ve sworn her honey had just come home from war! She played the part beautifully.

We got wonderful feedback from her.

“Being in the studio everyone made me feel and look beautiful. I had an amazing experience and would do it over and over again! Thank you Katie for your amazing work! I had a blast!”- Megan

SO did I! And I would do it everyday!
