PAINT Nail Braid Bar

One of my favorite on location jobs is setting up a braid bar at PAINT Nail Bar in downtown Sarasota. I started getting my nails done at PAINT Nail Bar about 2 years ago. I heard about their awesome nail services through a blow dry bar that I used to work at. When you walk into PAINT, it’s like no other nail salon that you’ve been to. Usually you walk in and smell strong scents of acetone and heavy duty products that are damaging to the environment and your body.

At PAINT Nail Bar, that’s not how they run things. They use bio seaweed gel on their clients. The nail technicians and very talented and well trained. You can sit down with them and relate. They are really good at meeting your needs. If you want a little extra decoration, they can get it done. I’ve had the cutest things done on my nails at PAINT Nail Bar. They have done marble looks on me, palm trees, mermaid scales ( to go with my brand), that was my personal favorite!

I love getting a pedicure because they will hook you up with the best tasting mimosas! My personal favorite are the berry ones! And when you are sitting down for a pedicure, that’s when you get to enjoy those yummy drinks the most.

Pop-up Style

Whenever I come into PAINT Nail Bar to do braids, the clients usually have gotten an email letting them know I’ll be showing up to do complimentary braids. It really has been a successful pop-up event! I usually will get booked on an especially busy holiday weekend. For example I recently did a braid bar on Mothers Day. It started as being something I would randomly do, but since it has been a success for PAINT Nail Bar, they now get the heads up!

A Little More About the Setup

When I setup for the braid bar, I keep it pretty simple. I’ll bring about 4 hair products, one hot tool, a comb, dual fiber brush, small hair ties and bobby pins.  It can be hard to create space, but we get it done! I’ll start with the client in the chair with their hair down. I give them about 3 options for a look they want. I try to focus on crown braids, dutch braids, and waterfall braids.

The Hair Products

I start with a good brush out so I can work my hair through the hair easily. I use Bumble and Bumble Does It All Spray, which is my favorite working spray, and work that through before I get started. After that, I evaluate the hair texture and whether it is oily or dry. I’ll apply Kevin Murphy’s Dry Shampoo FRESH.HAIR on the roots for the oily hair. For frizzy, dry hair, I’ll use a light spray wax from PureologyPerfect 4 Platinum Miracle Filler Treatment to control the hair. After I’m done with the style and before I secure it, I’ll pull apart the braid to reach that highly coveted boho braid look! Now and then I use a Paul Mitchell wand for a few peices around the face. I finish the looks with Kevin Murphy’s Shimmer Shine Spray.

Social Media Love

I always make sure I get good pics of these boho braids! I think people really like to see the texture that comes from these styles. It gives the hair a lot of dimension and show’s off highlights and color. I’ve had some success with these pictures! Bumble and Bumble has reposted the featured picture from this post. They posted it both in the US, and Germany. Kinda cool! One picture can get a lot of love!
